To prepare professionals to act in the following fields:

Course Structure

General issue: Renewable Energies

Type: MSc course (2nd cycle)

Credits: 120 ECTS

Diplomas: Master Degree (120 CTS – 4 semesters) or Post-Graduation Diploma (72 ECTS – 3 semesters)

Duration: 4 school semesters (classes - 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters; dissertation - 3rd and 4th semesters)

 

1st semester

Energia e ambiente / Energy and environment (6.0 ECTS)

Energias alternativas / Classic renewable energies (6.0 ECTS)

Balanços materiais e energéticos da produção de biomassa / Energetic and mass balances of biomass production (6.0 ECTS)

Produção de biomassa florestal / Forest biomass production (6.0 ECTS)

Produção de culturas energéticas / Production of energy crops (6.0 ECTS)

 

Between 1st and 2nd semesters- Entrepreneurship (3.0 ECTS)

 

2nd semester

SIG / GIS (6.0 ECTS)

Valorização de biomassa e resíduos / Valorization of biomass and wastes (6.0 ECTS)

Produção e utilização de bio-combustíveis líquidos / Production and use of liquid bio-fuels (6.0 ECTS)

Produção e utilização de hidrogénio / Hydrogen production and use (6.0 ECTS)

Tópicos avançados em energia e bioenergia I / Advanced issues in energy and bioenergy I (3.0 ECTS)

 

3rd semester

Produção de energia a partir da biomassa / Energy production from biomass (6.0 ECTS)

Política das energias renováveis / Policy on renewable energies (6.0 ECTS)

*Unidade curricular livre / *Free curricular unit(6.0 ECTS)

*The students can apply for any one of the curricular unit among those offered by FCT from the list of "Free Curricular Units", which is annually approved by the Scientific Council of FCT. Among these "Free Curricular Units", the DCTB offers, among others, the curricular unit of "Tópicos avançados em energia e bioenergia II / Advanced Topics in Energy and Bioenergy II" that has compatible timetable with both the After Working Hours timetable and Condensed timetable (please, see the Timetable of Classes below).

 

Annual (3rd semester - 12.0 ECTS and 4th semester - 30.0 ECTS)

Dissertação em Energia e Bioenergia / Dissertation in Energy and Bioenergy (42.0 ECTS)

 

Timetable of Classes

After working hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 pm – 24:00 pm

Condensed timetable: Thursday, 3:00 pm - 00:00 pm; Friday, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Any one of these timetables only runs on with a minimum number of 10 students.

 

Applicants

EU and non-EU citizens with a previous graduation of 180 ECTS (or equivalent) on Engineering (Chemistry, Mechanics, Industrial Production, Environment, Electricity, Physics) or Basic Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics)
